Frequently Asked Questions

What’s so great about the Wash for Life?

The Wash for Life is a powerful pro-life event that works on both a local and a national level. It gives young people a chance to help the women and children in their community, while at the same time participating in a media event that tells the nation: the tide is turning - this generation is pro-life.

What does the Wash for Life hope to accomplish?

One of our main goals is to help our fellow youth become active in the pro-life movement. Most of America's young people believe that abortion is wrong and that the women who are threatened by it should be helped; sometimes all it takes is a project like this to inspire them with their own ideas. Our send-off message to those who participate on September 15 will be to use the enthusiasm it generates to find other ways to spread the culture of life.

Another major goal is to connect youth with their local pregnancy care centers, and to raise awareness about PCCs in general. PCCs play a vital role in effort to reach out to women to give them alternatives to abortion; but it is amazing how many people have never heard of them. We hope that through the Wash for Life, youth will begin a relationship with their local PCC, so that they will be able to help both the center and their peers who need it.

Why car washes?

A car wash is an easy event to organize and run. It is also very visible, if it is done right. And, it can be an effective fundraiser - we know of a youth group that raised more than $20,000!

One of the benefits of the Wash for Life is that those who participate do not have to travel. You can be part of a nationwide event without leaving your hometown.

I would like to hold a car wash; why do I need to sign up?

Because we’re not just washing cars, we’re making a statement to our elected officials, to the media, and to the nation that our generation respects life and wants to build a compassionate culture of life. To do that we want our numbers to be as big as possible.

Having groups register is the way we are making this a national event. We want to be able to say, "This many car washes across this many states raised this much money on September 15." By signing up and reporting on your success, you make the numbers bigger, which makes the story more dramatic, and the statement more convincing.

Signing up early is important because you will help us pitch the Wash for Life to others. Even if you don’t have all the details worked out, but you know for sure that you are going to participate, register today and make your voice heard. Go to sign up page | Home

Where does the money go?

The money stays local. 100% of the funds raised by each car wash goes to the pregnancy care center in its own community. A group might arrange with the PCC to buy a certain piece of equipment, or they might want to have a formal ceremony; or they can simply put the money in an envelope and hand it over. They will tell us how much they raised, but the PCC gets all of it.

We are, however, accepting donations to pay organization and living expenses for the team while we work on this project. This is entirely separate from the money being raised on September 15.
